Questo dipinto , che è stato mostrato al salon del 1853 , è una replica di una versione dello stesso formato data dalla regina vittoria al principe alberto nel 1852 . winterhalter usò una composizione simile per l'imperatrice eugenia circondata da lei Ladies-in-Waiting ( 1855 ; Museo Nazionale du Castello , Compiègne ) .
